Set Up a Lobby Appointment
Set up a lobby appointment to tell your member of Congress that you expect them to help the new administration make Darfur a priority from day one.
- Find your member of Congress by clicking here and entering your zipcode
- All senators and a few representatives have multiple offices in his/her state or district. Look on your member of Congress' website to find out which office is most convenient for you to get to, and call the phone number for that office
- See if any other members of your STAND chapter or partner groups would like to participate in the meeting with you. 3-4 people are usually the appropriate maximum for a lobby meeting.
- Introduce yourself. Say to the staffer who answered the phone that you're a constituent who is concerned about Darfur and would like to set up a meeting with a staffer or a member of Congress to discuss how the new administration can make Darfur and genocide prevention a priority.
- If the person with whom you spoke with on the phone says they need to get back to you, take down their name and be sure to follow up within the next few days.
- Prepare for the lobby meeting by clicking here and emailing advocacy@standnow.org
