Day Two was jam packed with a number of compelling workshops. It opened with something in which many upSTANDers are already experts: social media. Our very own Emma Goldberg led Social Media 201, going over everything from Tumblr to Twazzup and of course how to write the perfect tweet.

This is the first in a series of five posts recapping STAND Camp 2012, our third annual summer training institute for students from around the country.
Yesterday, STAND Campers lobbied their representatives to co-sponsor H.R. 4169, the Sudan Peace and Accountability Act, which requires the Obama administration to create a comprehensive US strategy towards ending atrocities and creating peace in Sudan and South Sudan.
On Monday, Mickey Jackson, STAND’s Student Director, and I will join President Obama’s top foreign policy advisors to discuss the administration’s strategy toward sub-Saharan Africa and the role that human rights advocates can play moving forward. We will discuss how, together, we can craft a more responsible, innovative, and progressive foreign policy in the region.
