How To Be A Mover
This summer, you may be out of school and away from your chapter members, but we have the tools you need to connect with new activists and community members wherever you are and MOVE the World. Together, we can meet the challenge. We can raise 30,000 to strengthen and build our anti-genocide movement.
- Plan an Event. This summer, keep up your anti-genocide activism by staying connected to fellow STAND students and planning fundraising events. Click here for some great ideas for fundraisers.
- Highlight your Event on www.standnow.org/campaigns/movetheworld. Use these resources to maximize your event’s success:
- Twitter feeds that will highlight your events, ideas, and successes
- The STAND Event Map! Add your event to STAND’s Event Map, which features all the events going on this summer
- All the materials and contact info you will need to connect with others and put on a great event!
- Follow Layla Amjadi, STAND’s Student Director on Twitter (STANDnow). She will be sending updates, ideas and links throughout the summer.
- Friends and community members –Get your friends, family and co-workers out of the house and participating in a summer of anti-genocide activism sure to make waves in the movement. Click here to find letters you can send to friends and family to get them involved.
- Outreach Team – Your STAND Regional Outreach Coordinator (ROC) is your number one STAND resource! Go to http://standnow.org/about/team/outreach to find the names and emails for the Outreach Team and get in touch with your Outreach Coordinator today! Your ROC is here to offer you resources, ideas, and support. Touch base with your ROC today by simply sending an email.
- YOU– This movement wouldn’t exist if it weren’t for the creativity, enthusiasm, and dedication of student activists. This summer is the perfect opportunity to prove to our officials that our anti-genocide efforts don’t take a summer vacation. You may be good at organizing, design, or throwing parties. Whatever it is, connect with your friends, use your different skills and interests, and put on a great fundraiser. Everything counts, and everything helps - a bake sale, bike ride, concert, movie screening and the tons of other things we’re sure you’ll come up with. Just don’t forget to tell us about it!
Fundraising Ideas
This summer the best ideas are going to be on the STAND website at http://standnow.org/campaigns/move-the-world. But, just to get those creative juices flowing….
- Throw a concert or party in your basement and charge entry.
- Muffin Mondays- Sell muffins at offices around town, they will love you because they probably skipped breakfast today.
- Ask gas stations around town to put out a can (that you decorate and provide) and collect change to end genocide. You would be surprised how much money that generates for very little effort.

Let everyone know why you are fundraising
