Overview of STAND's Summer Action Pack:
Summertime provides a great opportunity for our movement to increase its reach and effectiveness. We can’t afford to allow our efforts to take a break. The genocide in Darfur continues. This summer, homes will be destroyed, more innocent victims will be killed, women and girls will be raped, and many will starve.
The genocide has claimed as many as 400,000 lives and displaced more than 2.5 million people. While this unprecedented movement has helped protect countless potential victims, it is clear that genocide doesn’t take a summer vacation, and neither will our fight to end it. There’s more that we can do. STAND’s Summer Action Pack will increase your understanding of the genocide in Sudan, help you expand your knowledge of the conflicts in Burma and Eastern Congo, and propel your anti-genocide activism well into this summer and beyond.

1. Self-Educate, Self-Empower
The first step to action is education. As we move towards addressing other atrocities in addition to the genocide in Sudan, it is important that we all have a strong understanding of these complex conflicts. STAND has provided a list of books, movies, and blogs that will help you educate yourself this summer.
2. Lobby China: The Olympic Corporate Sponsor Campaign
The summer Olympics provides a great opportunity to Lobby China. Learn how you can continue with the SEAL policy framework by participating in the Olympic Corporate Sponsor Campaign.
3. Join the Summer Fundraising Challenge
Find out about the Genocide Intervention Network’s Civilian Protection Program and simple ways to fundraise over the summer.
4. Connect With Your Community
Empower your community groups and members with the tools to both stop and prevent genocide. Inspire their activism with the stories, videos, and pictures of the survivors of this genocide, and actions from this Summer Action Pack.
5. Plan Ahead for the School Year
Connect with other chapter leaders and outline your chapter’s plan of action for the upcoming academic year.
6. Support Fellow STAND and Anti-Genocide Activists
Learn about how other STAND students and anti-genocide activists are keeping up their activism this summer and how you can participate.
7. Get Creative
Utilize STAND’s resources and create your own actions or events. You have already started making a tremendous difference on your campus and in your community to end genocide, so don't stop this summer!
