A Call to Candidates

Step one in this campaign is to do some research on the congressional and senatorial campaigns that are taking place in your district and or state. Your Regional Outreach Coordinator (ROC) can let you know which campaign is taking place in your district or state. You can also find out by visiting these websites:

One way to keep on top of campaign happenings that are mentioned in the media is by setting up Google Alerts with the names of the candidates running for office.

Step two in background research is to find out how your candidates stand on Darfur and genocide. Again, your ROC can send you this information, or you can visit DarfurScores.org to read about legislation they’ve passed. If they are not an incumbent, you can search for them online to find out if they have made any statements on Darfur and genocide. Your Regional Advocacy Coordinator (RAC) can assist you with this.

Step three in laying the groundwork for this campaign is to find out from your ROC what high school and college chapters are in your area that are also interested in making Darfur a campaign issue. You can set up a chapter page by clicking here* and find out what chapters are by you so you can connect with them.

Step four would be to reach out to like-minded community groups you know of or with whom you have worked in the past that also care about Darfur. They might be willing to attend or host events with you.

*You must create an account on the website before setting up a chapter page
