Managing Committee
STAND is a student-led organization. Two full-time employees in STAND's national headquarters in Washington, DC give support to eleven full-time college student volunteers that make up STAND's Managing Committee. These students are from all over the country and help to guide the organization in all aspects of progamming, support, and planning. Any full-time student can apply to be a part of this committee. Scott Warren
Scott WarrenExecutive Student Director (Brown University, 2009) director@standnow.org Scott Warren is the Director of STAND: A Student Anti-Genocide Coalition, and a junior at Brown University. Originally from San Diego, California, Scott has lived in many different countries in Africa and Latin America, including Argentina, Kenya, and the Dominican Republic. He graduated from high school in Quito, Ecuador.
Scott helped found the now very active STAND chapter at Brown and helped lead the movements to get Brown, and subsequently the City of Providence and State of Rhode Island to divest from Sudan. He has been feautured in the Associated Press, the Providence Journal, CNN International, the Boston Globe, and the Chronicle of Higher Education. Scott previously served as the Communications Coordinator for STAND. STAND currently encompasses over 700 high school and college chapters throughout the country dedicated to ending and preventing genocide.
Ashley Kroetsch
Ashley KroetschNational College Outreach Coordinator (UNC-Chapel Hill, 2008) outreach@standnow.org Originally from the coast of North Carolina, Ashley is an International Studies major at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is intricately involved in her local chapter and now brings her passion to empower students in the fight to end genocide to STAND chapters and activists across the Southeast. After college, Ashley would love to continue to help others in the movement to protect human rights around the world.
Jessica Morales

Jessica is a senior majoring in Political Science and Peace and Justice Studies, but considers herself a student of every subject. As STAND's College Programming Coordinator, she makes up half of the programming team that works to create campaigns to energize the student movement. In addition to STAND, she has been studying dance since she was seven and performs with the Villanova Dance Company, but she most enjoys the spontaneous performances that happen in line waiting to pay for groceries and walking up the stairs. On her campus, she is an active member of her STAND chapter, a Vice President of the student government, and all-around troublemaker. A native of Southern California, she is on a constant quest to find good Mexican food on the East Coast.
Colin O'Brien
Colin OBrienNational High School Outreach Coordinator (Brown University, 2010) highschool@standnow.org Colin O'Brien is the High School Division's Outreach Coordinator, working to help high schoolers start STAND chapters and execute different campaigns. Colin joined the Darfur Action Network at Brown University as a freshman and has been continually been inspired by the enthusiasm of students in this group as well as Darfur activists throughout Rhode Island and the United States. Colin is a sophomore at Brown and a biology concentrator. He grew up in Wayland, MA.
Elizabeth Milligan

Elizabeth, a senior at Lake Forest College in Chicago, works on programming for the high school division. A history and education major, she has student taught 7th grade social studies. Elizabeth was inspired to get involved with Darfur activism when her synagogue, Congregation Har HaShem in Boulder, CO raised money to settle Sudanese refugees in Colorado. She then spent a semester in Washington, DC, where she interned with the Committee on Conscience at the US Holocaust Memorial Museum. Elizabeth founded her STAND chapter on campus, and is also involved with student activists who work for the Invisible Children of Uganda. She would like to join the Peace Corps, work in international education, or go to graduate school for international relations, depending on the day you ask.
Meredith Burak
International Outreach Coordinator (University of Vermont, 2007) international@standnow.org As International Outreach Coordinator, Meredith believes the movement towards building a permanent and effective anti-genocide constituency must be international in character. Meredith is a a senior at the University of Vermont. She founded the UVM STAND chapter in 2005 which has led the University and then the state of Vermont to divest from companies in Sudan. In Fall 2006, Meredith organized the first demonstration on Darfur at the United Nations in Geneva. She has also travelled around East Central Africa studying war, genocide and international law.
Amanda Cellini

Originally hailing from Wisconsin, the ever-optimistic Amanda Cellini is a junior at Rhodes College in Memphis. Before settling down in the home of the blues (and Elvis!) she developed her passion for human rights in high school. College has offered Amanda the opportunity to work both with a vibrant refugee community and fellow students that continually provide her inspiration. Amanda spent her summer hands on, learning how to further human rights while in East Africa. With a firm belief in the fact that education is, in fact, "the movement from darkness to light," she hopes to help enable the anti-genocide movement as the Education Coordinator.
Sean Redding

As Communications Coordinator, Sean serves as STAND's main media contact, assists chapters in garnering media attention for events, writes newsletters and action alerts, and works on media outreach for STAND's national campaigns. He helps lead his STAND chapter at the George Washington University, where he is a freshman majoring in history and political science. He is originally from Hoffman Estates, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago.
Isaac Rowlett

Isaac Rowlett, 20, is a junior at NYU majoring in Genocide Studies, Human Rights, and Sustainable Development. Isaac co-founded his STAND chapter at NYU and he is committed to strong, effective advocacy on behalf of the people of Darfur and rendering genocide EXTINCT. When Isaac isn't reading the Sudan Tribune or surfing Darfur Scores he can be found watching documentaries and indie films, fighting to stop global warming, or listening to gangsta rap.
Sabina Carlson
Sabina CarlsonCommunity Outreach Coordinator (Tufts University, 2010) communities@standnow.org A native of New Jersey, Sabina is now a freshman at Tufts University, studying Peace and Justice, Community Health, and Arabic. Named after a Holocaust victim, Sabina has promised herself she would do everything she could to help stop genocide today. And so Sabina has spent the past 4 years in the fight to save Darfur, and hopes to spend her life helping to rebuild the region. With an overwhelming love of people, there is nothing Sabina would like to do more than bringing people together on behalf of the people of Darfur!
Ben Rome

Ben Rome, a sophomore at Brown University where he is majoring in Biology, is now serving as STAND's technology coordinator. As such, he is responsible for updating and improving the website that you are reading right now. Ben coordinates with the rest of the managing committee to ensure that STAND's goals and campaigns are being correctly portrayed to you (yes, you) and other viewers on the web. Ben became active in the issue of Darfur during high school and used this interest to co-coordinate the Vermont Speaks Up: Rally to Stop the Genocide in Darfur in June 2006. Ben is also an active member of Brown's Darfur Action Network. When he is not sitting behind a computer, Ben can be found playing tennis, sailing, traveling, or hanging out with his brothers at AEPi.

Curt Fitzpatrick is a practicing graphic designer with over ten years of experience. Curt got involved with STAND to make a difference in Darfur by raising awareness through eye-catching materials. He is a sophomore at Western Michigan University where he is majoring in Graphic Design.
