Fundraising Coordinator
STAND, the student-led division of Genocide Intervention Network, is a network of high school and college chapters and thousands of student activists across the nation committed to the prevention and end of genocide and mass atrocities globally. STAND formed out of the rapidly growing student movement to protect the people of Darfur, Sudan and now works to unify a growing student anti-genocide movement by providing activists with resources to educate and organize in their community, empowering them through an extensive network of impassioned student leaders and advocating for a change in our government’s mentality towards genocide.
The following job description offers a brief overview of a particular position on the STAND Managing Committee (MC), followed by four categories:
1. Management Duties:
These are the essential tasks that each Coordinator will be responsible for completing.
2. Coordination Duties:
Communication and teamwork are key to an effective Managing Committee; therefore, this section outlines the ways in which each Coordinator will work with other members of the Managing Committee (MC).
3. Accountability Obligations:
Coordinators will be held accountable for their duties through the relationships and measures described in this section.
4. Required Skills:
This section outlines the abilities and experience necessary for each position.

STAND Fundraising Coordinator
The Fundraising Coordinator (FC) serves three very important and evolving purposes on the STAND Managing Committee (MC). The first and overall purpose of the position is to ensure that the STAND Leadership Team and local STAND groups are incorporating a culture and expectation of fundraising into all programming and events. The second is to work with other MC members to serve as a resource for local chapters – offering fundraising advice, ideas, material creation, conference workshops, easy to use messaging, etc. Lastly, the FC will also work with STAND’s Student Director and Staff to coordinate an annual national fundraiser for all members to participate in.
Management Duties:
- Be an active leader in and build their own chapter and use it to raise awareness, raise funds for genocide prevention and advocate policy solutions to Members of Congress
- Create materials to empower STAND chapters to effectively fundraise as a core component of their activism
- Track and collect success stories of fundraising events on a weekly basis to be used in national newsletters, on the STAND website, and in future development materials
- Develop fundraising workshops which will be used for internal education as well as offered at National and Regional conferences
Coordination Duties:
- Work with the Managing Committee to ensure that development and fundraising is regularly considered in programming, materials creation, and event planning
- Work with Outreach Coordinators and Core Chapter Leaders to ensure that they are empowered and educated to effectively train and encourage chapters to fundraise
- Serve as a resource for local chapters on the topic of grassroots fundraising
- Coordinate with STAND’s Student Director and Staff to plan one annual national fundraiser
- Work with GI-NET’s Development Director to aid with grant writing and individual giving as needed (limited) as well as to coordinate grassroots fundraising efforts among the larger GI-NET constituency
Accountability Obligations:
- Manage and report results of tracking to MC and STAND Staff via a monthly written report
- Work with the STAND Student Director and Staff to develop a year-long strategy to reach previously determined fundraising goal
- Support Outreach Coordinators, Core Chapter Leaders and other members to meet fundraising goals
- Coordinate efforts with GI-NET Development Director
- Communicate efforts, successes, and challenges directly to STAND via monthly metrics in order to inform STAND's programs and available resources
- Set a year-long fundraising goal and work to achieve it using STAND's resources and materials
- Actively participate in weekly MC conference calls
- Check-in weekly with STAND Student Director and Staff
Required Skills:
- Strong interest in non-profit development / fundraising
- Working knowledge of the anti-genocide movement and ability to represent STAND to outside groups and communicate effectively with local chapters
- Self-motivation, innovation, and patience
- Organization and ability to handle nation-wide contacts
